DTB Launches 2026 #AchieveMoreGirl Programme in Garissa, Targeting 7,000 Girls Across Four Counties

Garissa, Kenya, 24 March 2026… Diamond Trust Bank (DTB) has officially launched the 2026 phase of its flagship #AchieveMoreGirl programme in Garissa County, marking the first rollout for the year and reinforcing the bank’s commitment to scale menstrual health access to 100,000 schoolgirls across Kenya by 2030.

The 2026 phase will reach an additional 7,000 girls in Garissa, Kajiado, Kakamega and Kirinyaga counties through the provision of reusable menstrual hygiene kits and structured menstrual health education. The initiative is implemented in partnership with Together for Better, an organisation specialising in reusable pad production and menstrual health training.

Speaking about the initative in Garissa, DTB Finance & Strategy Director, Alkarim Jiwa reaffirmed the Banks’s long-term vision, “Garissa represents more than a geographic milestone for us. It represents commitment to ensuring that no girl’s education is interrupted simply because she lacks access to menstrual hygiene products or information. As we scale towards reaching 100,000 girls by 2030, we are deepening our investment in sustainable solutions that protect dignity, health and opportunity.”

Launched in 2020 with a five-year Ksh. 50 million commitment, #AchieveMoreGirl was designed to address barriers to education caused by limited access to affordable menstrual hygiene products, menstrual health knowledge gaps and persistent stigma. To date, the programme has supported over 30,000 girls across 22 counties.

This initiative aligns with DTB’s Sustainability and Citizenship agenda and contributes directly to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals on good health and well-being, quality education and gender equality.

On his part, Abdi Dagane, Deputy Governor of Garissa County stated, “When we invest in our girls, we invest in the economic future of Garissa. Ensuring they stay in school strengthens our workforce, uplifts families and accelerates community growth. We welcome partnerships that create long-term growth opportunities for the women and girls in our County.”

Through strategic partnerships with county governments, schools and community stakeholders, DTB continues to position #AchieveMoreGirl as one of the most sustained and scalable menstrual health programmes within Kenya’s banking sector.
