DTB commits Ksh.100 million to COVID-19 emergency relief
Nairobi, April 28, 2020: Diamond Trust Bank (DTB) has committed KSh.100 Million that will go towards cushioning Kenyans against the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Bank’s commitment has been approved by the Board and will go to a number of COVID-19 related initiatives, said Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Nasim Devji.
DTB will channel KSh.50 million directly to the COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund towards interventions for providing relief for the vulnerable families of the Kenyan Society.
The other KSh.50 million will be used towards various initiatives that the Bank would want to be involved in.
DTB is supporting the provision of meals to frontline workers at Kenyatta National Hospital and Mbagathi Hospital Isolation Facility in collaboration with the Nairobi Serena Hotel. The Bank is also financing the setting up of 40 beds at the recently commissioned Field Hospital by the Aga Khan University Hospital Nairobi.
“In these trying times, we must come together to address the problems we are dealing with as a country. Our survival is rooted in our ability to come together at times like this and DTB will play its part,” said Ms. Devji.
DTB Board Chairman Linus Gitahi said the Bank is keen on minimizing the economic impact of the pandemic.
“We all have a role to play in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic as we are all in this together. We stand with fellow Kenyans and existing government initiatives in this fight and we are playing our part in ensuring that the most vulnerable members of society are supported too,” said Mr. Gitahi.
